Kidnap Watch Update

Rescued: Chinese Zhang Benqin Abo, in Dongalo, Parañaque City, on Feb. 5. The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group arrested eight suspects — four men and four women. Police said Zhang and a companion were having breakfast in a restaurant near a Pasay City hotel when the suspects approached and talked to them. The companion reportedly left after sensing something amiss. Zhang was later dragged out and forced into a sports utility vehicle. The companion saw the entire incident and immediately told the hotel security personnel who then called the police. Police went after the suspects and found Zhang, blindfolded and both hands bound with packaging tape, abandoned along PITX Ave., Parañaque. The suspects’ vehicle was traced in Dongalo where they were arrested.

Kidnapped: Dr. Daniel Moreno, in Jolo, Sulu, on Feb. 4. Wearing police and military uniforms, they stormed Moreno’s clinic in Barangay Walled City and forcibly took him. They got away in a red Tamaraw FX.
