Electric taxis cleaner, but low-batt a real problem

A growing number of taxis on Beijing’s busy streets are electric.
The electric taxis may be better for the environment, but practical problems remain. Some cabbies say finding a charging post can be difficult and inconvenient.
It takes about seven hours for a full charge, and about 90 minutes for a “quick charge.”
Fully charged, the electric cars can get more mileage. But in winter this is reduced as power is needed for heating as well.
Authorities say there will be 200 charging stations by yearend in Beijing, five million in China by 2020, and 80 million by 2030.
