Acupuncture is not just for people.
It is being used to treat animals – specifically pet dogs, cats and rabbits – as well in Guanshang Animal Hospital in Beijing. At present, it is used mainly to treat paralysis, limb weakness, and pain management, in pets.
Media reports that treatment costs RMB30 (P216) for every acupoint. Each session usually requires at least a dozen needles.
Acupuncture for animals is reportedly available in Japan, South Korea, Europe and the United States as well. It can also be used to cure pets’ tumors and gastroenteritis.
