Share a gift of knowledge, help a cause

The political, economic and socio-cultural history of the Tsinoys is closely intertwined with that of the Filipino nation.
In fact, in events that shaped the Philippines as a nation and in all aspects of Philippine life, there throbs an active ethnic Chinese presence.
Thus, the study of Philippine history and society inevitably leads to further knowledge about the Chinese in the Philippines and vice-versa.
It is for this reason that in the past 30 years, Kaisa has published, in all, 55 titles, in English, Chinese and Filipino, some bilingual (English and Chinese), and one trilingual.
The publications are meant to be bridges of understanding, to enhance the knowledge and appreciation of the role and influence of the Tsinoys in Philippine society.
Some of them may not reach the standards of purely academic work but they are nevertheless still valuable additions to the bibliography of studies on Philippine society, culture and history.
Broadly, the books can be divided into those about the Philippines and those about the Chinese in the Philippines.
Among them are the four volumes of the Chinese in the Philippines: Problems and Perspectives that tackled special topics on the ethnic Chinese in Philippine local and national history.
The upcoming fifth volume will be out very soon. It covers Chinese culture in Southeast Asia; syncretism as religious culture; Chinese tombstones as important historical record; integration, indigenization and localization of ethnic Chinese in the Philippines; the ethnic Chinese story of courage and survival during the Japanese occupation; recent studies and research on Chinese overseas and Chinese in the Philippines; Philippines-China relations and other related topics.
We urge our readers to pre-order to get a substantial discount and at the same time help in subsidizing the cost of publishing the book.
Also coming out soon is Origins of Chinese Surnames, which discusses where the surnames of the Chinese in the Philippines came from, their varied spellings and prominent Tsinoys who bear the surname.
