An Indonesian captive of the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu was released on Jan. 15, the military said.
Juragan Kapal Samsul Saguni, who was abducted off waters of Sabah in September 2018, was brought to the house of former Sulu Governor Abdul Sakur Tan in Barangay Poblacion in Maimbung town, said Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Lt. Col. Gerry Besana.
It was not immediately known whether ransom was paid.
The Indonesian was given a debriefing and a medical checkup at a military hospital in Jolo after his release. He was then brought to the Wesmincom headquarters in Zamboanga City.
Saguni and his companion Usman Yunos were aboard a fishing vessel when they were abducted. The latter had escaped from the bandits.
